Cenchrus americanus (L.) Morrone - commonly known as Pennisetum glaucum. The most widely grown type of millet; it has been grown in Africa and the Indian subcontinent since prehistoric times. An alternative to Sorghum spp. and other warm season forage crops. It can be used for grazing, green chop and silage, and for hay, with appropriate management.
